The demo site has been quietly falling behind for a while. It was set up years ago, and like most demos it was built once and then left to run. Meanwhile the extensions kept moving. New releases, new features, a new major version of Joomla, and an old demo showing less and less of it, which meant that for the newest things you were back to product pages and screenshots. Screenshots are a poor way to choose software.
So we have rebuilt it from scratch. The new demo is live at demo.shondalai.com, and it is a single Joomla 6 site running all twelve of our extensions together: Rewardify, EasyCommerce, Sociable, QuillThreads, CjForum, Community Answers, Community Polls, Community Quiz, Community Quotes, Community Surveys, EasyForms and GPS Tools. Not twelve separate sandboxes, one site where they all work alongside each other, the way they would on yours.
Signing in takes one click
Most demos lose you at the registration form. Ours does not have one. In the header there is a small Member demo box with the credentials shown in plain sight. One click signs you in as Asha Menon, a demo member. No registration, no email, no waiting for a confirmation link.
As a guest you can browse everything public. Signed in, you can do what a real member does. Post forum topics and replies. Answer questions and place bounties. Vote in polls. Take quizzes, see your graded results, and check where you land on the leaderboard. Fill in surveys. Leave threaded comments. Rate and download GPS tracks. Build a cart in the store and apply a coupon at the basket.
The data is fake, but it hangs together
Demo content is usually the giveaway. Lorem ipsum threads, users called test1 and test2, everything dated three years ago. Our old demo was not entirely innocent here either. The new one goes the other way. The data is synthetic but realistic, and it is connected. The same members appear across the whole site, so the person asking a question in Community Answers also has a profile, points and a forum rank. The forums carry proper discussion threads. The quizzes have attempt history and leaderboards behind them. The polls use a proper mix of chart types. Q&A has tags and open bounties. The store has 18 products, each with a fully designed product page.
We have also set up every supported menu route of every extension, including the edge cases. So what you see is each extension the way it would actually be configured, not a single flattering view of it.
Break whatever you like
The whole site is rebuilt from source every time we deploy. Dates and activity are refreshed with each rebuild, so the content always looks current, and anything visitors have posted is wiped. That is also what stops it going the way of the old demo. A site that is built once and left to run will slowly drift out of date; one that is rebuilt from nothing every time cannot.
So treat it as a sandbox. Post nonsense, fill a survey with rubbish answers, load up the cart and abandon it. None of it survives, and nothing you do there can hurt anything.
The storefront templates have their own demo
We also make six storefront templates built on EasyCommerce, and screenshots do them even less justice than they do an extension. So each one runs as a complete live store at templates.shondalai.com: Basket, Forge, Kaffa, Mercantile & Co, Meridian Living and Pulse Supply. The main demo links to them from the EasyCommerce area, so you can wander from the component into the storefronts and back.
And when you have seen enough of any extension, its area on the demo links straight to its product page on shondalai.com.
That is the whole announcement. The old demo has retired, and the site in its place lets you try everything we make, signed in as a member, with nothing to install and nothing to register for.
