Badge not assigned for new article / blog

Hi,
I have a badge called 'blogger' that is assigned when a user creates his first blog.
I have users who do have an account but who ask me (administrator) to create their blogs): they sent me a doc and i create the article / blog for them from the back-end. In the blog I assign their account to the publishing option 'Created by'

I noticed that by doing this, the rule for the badge is not triggered and they are not assigned the badge...

Is there something I am missing or is there a way this can be fixed afterwards?
